Ashford Malayalee Association is a non-profit Cultural organization of people from Kerala, the southern state of India. The Association was started as a small group in 2004 and it has since grown considerably from it's humble beginnings. Today it is an independent association of Malayalees in Ashford , Kent with a growing membership count and an active annual calendar of events.
The two main objectives of the association are to:
- Provide a forum for friendly social activities among the Malayali community members in Ashford.
- Through various cultural programs and other social gatherings conducted by the association every year, the goal is to spread the ethnicity of our culture amoung the society in general and also impart a good understanding of our heritage, culture and values to the youth in our community.
Cultural Programs - We have two main annual events to showcase the talent of our members:
- Onam Celebration - Normally held in September. Onam celebration is one of the main highlights of this program, apart from cultural programs is an elaborate 'Onasadya' in the traditional Kerala style.
- Christmas - The grand finale to our activities of the year. Another occasion to showcase the talents of our members.
